EDITORIAL FROM LT COMMANDER (S) PAUL CHABOT
REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY CANDIDATE
“Yesterday, Governor Schwarzenegger suggested reducing state prison costs by sending the estimated 20,000 U.S. incarcerated illegal aliens to Mexico. While this would certainly reduce state costs, in the long-run, it would only harm our state and threaten public safety. I have served as a three time Governor appointee as a commissioner to the state parole board and saw firsthand the dangerous criminals locked up behind our prison walls.
Roughly 15% to 20% of the felony inmates in our state prisons are illegal aliens, many of whom are associates of brutal street and prison gangs. Until our borders are secured, these violent criminals will continue to walk across our border and place our communities in grave danger. We could have been saving money all along had we prevented this problem from being imported into our county in the first place. Until we get serious about border security and respecting the rule of law, the revolving door at our border with Mexico will remain one of our most significant threats, not only to public safety, but also to our serious economic crisis.”
Paul Chabot is a Republican Candidate for the 63rd Assembly District.
