LIEUTENANT COMMANDER (S) PAUL CHABOT CANDIDATE FOR 63rd AD ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENT OF CALIFORNIA POLICE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION

(INLAND EMPIRE, CA) – The California Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) announced its unanimous support and endorsement of Paul Chabot for the 63^rd Assembly. CPCA is dedicated to serving over 1,400 active and retired municipal California police chiefs. Municipal police chiefs are responsible for providing front line law enforcement services to more than 78% of Californians.

“I am grateful and honored to receive the support of the California Police Chiefs Association. Law enforcement leaders are dealing with a number of challenges in today’s climate. They can count on me to fight every single day for public safety and victims rights. Having worn the badge myself for nearly 15-years, I understand and appreciate the very difficult and dangerous job asked of the men and women who protect the thin blue line. I am forever grateful for their leadership and service,” said Chabot.

Revolving door problem
On Jan. 26, Gov. Schwarzenegger suggested reducing state prison costs by sending the 20,000 U.S. incarcerated illegal aliens to Mexico.
While this would certainly reduce state costs, in the long run, it would only harm our state and threaten public safety. I have served as a three-time governor appointee to the state parole board and saw firsthand the dangerous criminals locked up behind our prison walls.
Roughly 15 percent to 20 percent of the felony population in our state prisons are illegal aliens, many of whom are associates of violent street and prison gangs. Until our borders are secured, these violent criminals will continue to walk across our border and place our communities in grave danger. We could have been saving money all along had we prevented this problem from being imported into our county in the first place.
Until we get serious about border security and respecting the rule of law, the revolving door at our border with Mexico will remain one of our most significant threats, not only to public safety, but also to our serious economic crisis.

PAUL CHABOT, LIEUTENANT COMMANDER (S) CANDIDATE FOR 63^rd AD ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENT OF SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY UNDERSHERIFF RICHARD BEEMER (ret).

(INLAND EMPIRE, CA) – San Bernardino County Undersheriff Beemer retires, immediately endorses LT Commander (s) Paul Chabot and co-hosts upcoming fundraiser event.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Undersheriff Beemer and I look forward to his guidance throughout this campaign and beyond.” Beemer is a outstanding American who protected us here at home, but also overseas during his combat service where he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. His participation in our Rancho Cucamonga fundraiser later this month will be a wonderful opportunity for area residents to meet a law enforcement legend and military hero,” said Chabot.

Richard Beemer had served as the Sheriff’s second-in-command since 2005 and been with the department since 1973.  After 37 years he retired as the Undersheriff on January 29, 2010.

He has served four terms as the President of the Sheriff’s Employees’ Benefit Association and is a former trustee with the Peace Officers Research Association of California’s Legal Defense Fund.

Beemer is a Vietnam veteran having served in the Army as an infantry sergeant where he earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals.  During his diverse career in law enforcement, he served at various times as the Commander of the Fontana Sheriff’s Station, Professional Standards Division, Employee Resources Division and the Sheriff’s Bureau of Administration.

“Paul has earned my trust. He will protect our communities from the spread of gang violence committed by illegal immigrants and local gang members alike. He has my endorsement to be our next Assembly member,” said Beemer.

THE CLOSURE OF THE COLTON CEMENT PLANT UNDERSCORES FINANCIAL MISMANAGEMENT BY LIBERAL LEADERSHIP IN SACRAMENTO

(INLAND EMPIRE, CA) – This past Friday another tragic blow was dealt to our local economy as the Colton Cement Plant, owned and operated by the CalPortland Cement Company since 1891.  Nearly 100 jobs were lost as a result of the hard times all states currently face, however no state has been hit nearly as hard as California.  California has always been salt and peppered with Governors from both parties so where exactly is the source of failure in leadership?  What has made California a unique example among our other 49 sister states?  The answer lies locked away in the cold hearts of the democrat legislative leadership.

This past weekend California’s financial woes hit home for a lot of residents in the Inland Empire.  Not only does it directly affect those that lost their jobs, it affects those that benefited from the revenue spent by local wage earners.  The negative effect this has on our local economy is exponential.  For years democrats have protected special interests such as Union Leadership allowing them to run amok in a quest for political power that has completely disregarded the actual workers they were elected to protect.  They have also given free rein to the environmental lobby, allowing essentially a zero tolerance policy for any vitally needed infrastructure projects in order to protect a non-native smelt or any other given excuse.  I’m sure there are a number of projects that the Colton Factory might have benefited from which may have prevented it from closing its doors.  This new aristocracy has been forged from a redistribution of wealth taken from the middle class and hardworking Californian’s and given to Union and Environmental lobbies that sees people as a means to an end.

It may not seem like common sense to liberals in the legislature or the lobbyists that pull their strings, but when you break the back of small businesses by incessantly increasing taxes, competitive states with lower tax structures win their business and their profitable returns every time.  The democrat legislature can raise taxes all they would like, however if there are no businesses or entrepreneurs left to pay them, the state will go bankrupt.  It may be counter-intuitive to some, but tax breaks on small businesses lures more business to the state and the quantity of revenue they provide collectively puts our state in a much more sound financial position.

My thoughts and prayers today are with the people that lost their jobs this past weekend and their loved ones.  As difficult as times are today for them to be put in this manufactured position as a result of uncaring bureaucratic decisions is unconscionable.  We can no longer stand idly by as we witness our futures spent away in Washington and Sacramento while we get taxed to death out of our homes and jobs.

It appears illegal drug “legalization” will be on the ballot in 2010. If passed, this will harm our cities by degrading community values, which negatively affects education, public safety, worker productivity and the environments businesses operate within. With the significant challenges already facing the Inland Empire, we cannot afford to stand idle. For the future of California, for the future of our youth and prosperity, we have no choice but to stand up and fight.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) Today, Paul Chabot, Candidate for the 63rd Assembly District, and Founder of the Coalition for a Drug Free California, stands with religious faithful, law enforcement and citizen activists to rally on the Capitol steps to protest the attempt to legalize marijuana.

“It is absurd for the legislature to consider legalizing marijuana while complaining how schools and communities are being ravaged by drugs, gangs and crime. Our message to the Assembly Public Safety Committee is clear, AB 390 is a danger to public health and sends the wrong message to our youth,” said Chabot.

The rally is being lead by the International Faith-Based Coalition and support from the Californians for Drug Free Youth, Coalition for a Drug Free California, and numerous high-level law enforcement officers.

I recently went head to head in a debate with two of our nation’s well know drug legalizers, retired Judge Jim Gray and Ethan Nadelmann, Executive Director of Drug Policy Alliance. The  debate took place in Los Angeles and was moderated by Town Hall Los Angeles. The debate was broadcast this past Sunday and I have attached a copy of the audio.

As Americans, we must stand ready to fight back and defeat drug legalization ballot initiatives coming to California in 2010. Without standing up against those who want to legalize drugs, their messages would go unchallenged and both our communities and youth would suffer.
